Start with an ordinary day
When you imagine living in Spain, it is easy to picture the terrace and the sunshine. Spend a little time imagining a normal Tuesday, too. Where would you buy groceries? How would you get around? What would you like to have within walking distance?
Write down the routines that matter to you. A place that suits your everyday life can feel very different from somewhere you enjoy for a short holiday.
Separate essentials from nice-to-haves
Make two lists: the things your home needs to have, and the things you would simply love. Think about bedrooms, outdoor space, accessibility, parking and the practical needs of anyone moving with you.
Keep the essential list short enough to help you make choices. If everything is a must-have, it becomes harder to recognise the right compromise.
